As a software engineer, I have a passion for leading projects and influencing dev team culture to be more collaborative and more communicative. I strive to think deeply and broadly about tough questions and maintain awareness of what I know and, also, what I know I don't know. By keeping the edges of my thinking flexible and by keeping myself open to collaboration across teams, I consistently produce iterable frontend and server-side code for features that make a real difference to the people who use them.As a developer, I welcome feedback from colleagues and stakeholders alike. I am reflective and open to feedback that will help me improve my contributions, skills, and approach to problem-solving. Being open to feedback and improvement is a quality I also nurtured in my first career teaching high school English. I started out as a Ruby on Rails and JS dev, but in recent years have become a big fan of working in TypeScript as well. Today, if you were to ask me where I land on the question of Tests vs. Types, I would say both…but if you have to pick one to start, pick a typed language!
