- I researched on tallyHo (TH) mouse strain as a polygenic model for Type 2 diabetes with obesity. This project was on how obesity was developed exacerbately by HFS( a high-fat and high-sucrose ) with this congenic mice by a genetic analysis.- I investigated microarray analysis of gene expression in human adipose tissue. I performed human cDNA microarray assay for differential gene expression, and the Stanford Microarry Databasewas for the gene analysis. In these projects, I worked on computer program MapManager QT , RNA isolation by QUIGEN kit using centrifuge, generati DNA by RT-PCR from RNA, DNA amplifying by PCR using markers for genotyping, assayed plasma glucose, insulin, and leptin levels, tissue protein analysis using commercial kits, and tissue collecting of five fat pads [inguinal, epididymal, mesenteric, retroperitoneal (including perirenal), and subscapular].- I conducted microarray analysis of gene expression in human adipose tissue. - I performed the project about the cytotoxic effects of mercury on human HepG2 cells. During this project, I worked on agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometric analysis, incubating cells and dose-dependent induction into cells and maintaining cell line.- I played a Teaching Assistant role in teaching the molecular lab class course for undergraduate students.

South Korea

- I investigated on carnitine metabolism of exercising rat and human. Blood samples were collected from rat's heart using syringe and from eye and tail of rat using microapillary tubes. Tissue was collected from rat's liver, heart, kidney, muscle (gastrocnemius), fat (ingunal, epididymal, mesenteric, retroperitonel, subscapular and brown fat pad ), whole brain, pancreas, and intestine.- I also researched on biochemical assay for human's blood and urine including carnitine (using 14C), CPT (carnitine palmitoyltransferase-I).- I assayed insulin (using RIA kits), triglyceride, glucose, total cholesterol, free fatty acid, and total lipid (using commercial kits).
