• Investigated copper-mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of conjugated 1,3-dienes (i.e., butadiene, isoprene, and dimethyl butadiene) via comprehensive kinetic studies under various reaction parameters including initiators, catalysts, ligands, solvents, temperatures, reagent ratios and ATRP procedures by evaluating rate of polymerization, molecular weight, PDI and % chain end functionality, resulting in 2 peer-reviewed journal articles (to be submitted soon), 11 proceedings, and 1 poster presentation. • Constructed comprehensive database of ATRP reaction conditions for the synthesis of well-defined polydienes including polybutadiene and polyisoprene via kinetic investigation.• Determined the best-fitted ATRP procedure for 1,3-dienes by demonstrating major side reaction involved in ATRP of 1,3-dienes.• Examined titanium-mediated degenerative chain transfer radical polymerization (DTP) of 1,3-dienes through kinetic studies under various reaction conditions, resulting in 1 book chapter and 10 proceedings.• Designed, synthesized and characterized well-defined polydienes, other various polyolefins, and functionalized polydiene-based complex macromolecular architectures (i.e., di-, tri-, and star block copolymers including SBR) using controlled radical polymerization methods including ATRP and Ti-mediated DTP ; characterized synthesized polymers using 1H, 13C, 2D 1H-1H COSY NMRs, FTIR, GPC, DSC, and TGA.• Constructed and developed Schlenk line-employed air-free sampling technique for kinetic experiment of low boiling point monomer polymerization. • Mentored, managed and evaluated research performance of 5 undergraduates and 3 graduate students.
