Here is my story why I changed my career from IT to tourism. My dream is to set out a journey traveling around the world and see what the world has to offer to transform my life by interacting with different civilizations, different people, different cultures, and different values and beliefs. My father liked to travel too. But he passed away three years ago and I only had those fond memories that he drove us around the island when we were little. I promised him that I would take him to see the world just one month before he left us. Unfortunately, my promise did not cash out but I will still go on my own as a way to memorize him. I believe his spirit would always be with me on the road and guide me the path through my journey. He would be a star up in the sky smiling at me and be proud of me. A project coming with my dream is to chat with senior locals when I travel to each geographic division and invite them share their stories and legends with me like the way my father would tell me stories of his younger age. I would record all the details and collect the legacies they generously provide and combine them into a book. I would like to get it published if possible. It would be the best souvenir I’ve ever cherished in my life, also a treasure I would like to share with my children and my grand children. I am confident to fulfill my dream in the near future. I truly believe if people can take a journey out of their comfort zone just to experience different things once in their lifetime, they would learn to respect others more and change their attitude better, then the world would have more peace and less conflict. This might be a solution to Samuel Huntington’s “The clash of civilizations”.
