Subsequent design refinement led to significant performance and usability improvements and a >95% cost reduction; meeting aggressive commercial product cost targets.• Led brainstorming sessions and employed creative design thinking alongside structured cost/benefit and risk analysis to rapidly converge on novel solutions to complex design challenges, leading to being named as inventor on 87 worldwide patents (17 unique families) and more pending filing. • Provided strong leadership by example in completing critical technical deliverables, including performing engineering design calculations, solid modelling of complex metal and plastic parts and assemblies, sourcing and qualifying suppliers and overseeing prototype assembly and qualification.

• Designed a methane reformer for hydrogen generation by developing a novel modular reactor architecture from initial concept through to detailed design, including solid modeling, generating component and assembly drawings, qualifying suppliers, and overseeing prototype construction, installation and testing; resulting in a tenfold reduction in system cost and a clear development plan for achieving key long-term cost targets.• Supported membrane and catalyst research teams by designed various assembly and test fixtures to facilitate research and improve manufacturability.

• Developed a database of fuel cell and hydrogen industry stakeholders, funding sources and partnership opportunities culminating in the publication of the first Canadian fuel cell industry capabilities guide.• Cooperated in executing a marketing strategy including corporate branding activities, creating digital and print media and managing an online presence through the planning and technical development of the company’s website.

• Evaluated the feasibility of various pinhole detection technologies (optical, laser, capacitive, ultrasonic and trace gas) for the inspection of composite materials including PTFE laminates resulting in the design and construction of a prototype system for production line quality control.• Analyzed the theoretical merits of various advanced heating and cooling system concepts, conducted experiments to validate analytic predictions, and presented recommendations and design concepts for future development consideration.

• Designed and conducted proof-of-concept testing of a prototype fuel humidification system and control strategy for automotive applications, which exhibited sufficient promise to merit extension into a lifetime test and subsequently exceeded all previous performance benchmarks.• Modified, tested, and operated automated fuel cell test stations and prepared numeroustest protocols and reports documenting various stages of fuel cell system design, testing, and evaluation.

• Tested and analysed the flow characteristics of prototype gas turbine fuel atomizers for commercial clients using laser-based flow visualization and particle analysis instruments.• Designed a fuel atomizer satisfying stringent performance and time constraints.
