I used my hitherto experience in confocal microscopy to elucidate the physiological functions of GSK-3 kinases in synaptic plasticity (FP7 "Neuro.GSK" grant financed by European Comission in the area of the Research & Innovation). Increasingly fascinated by the field of molecular neurobiology I applied for and successfully obtained a grant from the National Science Centre (Poland) that allowed me to investigate the role of GSK3 in chronic stress. -

Although we were a bootstrapped start-up, we put a lot of emphasis on developing state of the art technology to support what was then a fresh idea.My role was to make sure that everything worked and that we made progress towards the goals. Consequently, we were progressing at high pace, also when it came to widening the gap between spending our limited resources and gathering money from an emerging regional market. Well, as I learnt only later in Silicon Valley, it was OK to fail.One of my key takeaways from this adventure was the conviction that you can deploy the power of Agile in fields that are seemingly unrelated to software development. Eversince a kanban table follows me wherever my desk is.
