NanoVelos develops an innovative and proprietary drug delivery system for oncology drugs.My responsibilities covered activities requiring attention to details and ability to understand the bigger picture:• Setting the strategic priorities for both R&D and organization development;• Team management on a daily basis including promotion of state of the art research standards (in particular: liberating the team's energy, smoothing out the organizational workflow);• Defining the pipeline for drug discovery process and the execution of the milestones;• Talent acquisition;• Designing and supervision of the pre-clinical trials required by the regulators;• Financial planning and management;• Capital raising from private investors - under my tenure the Company has closed a 2nd round of investment;• Acquisition of public grants;• Development and management of scientific and business partnerships.

My five-year-long adventure of revealing the mysteries of neurons started when I joined the group of Jacek Jaworski (http://www.iimcb.gov.pl/jaworski_lab.php). I used my hitherto experience in confocal microscopy to elucidate the physiological functions of GSK-3 kinases in synaptic plasticity (FP7 "Neuro.GSK" grant financed by European Comission in the area of the Research & Innovation). Increasingly fascinated by the field of molecular neurobiology I applied for and successfully obtained a grant from the National Science Centre (Poland) that allowed me to investigate the role of GSK3 in chronic stress.

An internet service that helps the users create their wishlists, which are unlimited with respect to merchants they cover. The visibility of the lists is customizable with respect to whom can see them (e.g. friends, relatives, public). Although we were a bootstrapped start-up, we put a lot of emphasis on developing state of the art technology to support what was then a fresh idea.My role was to make sure that everything worked and that we made progress towards the goals. Consequently, we were progressing at high pace, also when it came to widening the gap between spending our limited resources and gathering money from an emerging regional market. Well, as I learnt only later in Silicon Valley, it was OK to fail.One of my key takeaways from this adventure was the conviction that you can deploy the power of Agile in fields that are seemingly unrelated to software development. Eversince a kanban table follows me wherever my desk is.
