Has over 30 years experience producing / finance in all areas of International Media Production. Graduate of the National Film and Television School and the Atelier de Cinema European, has served on the development board of Scottish Screen Enterprises, the NFTS Scholarship Panel and past-Chairman of NFTS Alumni Network. Beginning in production on Bill Forsyth’s “Local Hero”, he has since worked with directors such as Bruce Beresford, Kevin Godley, David Mallet, Richard Lowenstein, Brian Ward, Sandy Johnson and David MacKenzie. Formerly Head of Production at Midnight Films – he produced films with, Sade, U2, Frank Sinatra, INXS, Paul McCartney, Sting and AC/DC’s “Fly On The Wall” – amongst many others. In 1993 co-founded / Chaired, AIM listed Parallel Pictures Group Plc, based at Ealing Studios, (Brides Diary, If Only, Far From China, POV, Naked August). In 2001, Brown Films began- film projects, Poor Things, by Alasdair Gray and, The Bonny Boys by Jack Docherty. Exec Producer on Animation Feature ‘Pele’, a US /India production. Also, director of Specific Films Ltd, producer of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mr Reliable, U2 – Rattle & Hum.2016 - launched, BY Media International, a China - UK co-venture based in Beijing/London for Media/VR development /production. Also, – INTO THE RAINBOW - 3D fantasy-adventure, China - NZ - UK co-production, starring Willow Shields (The Hunger Games) principal photography in Qingdao, China / Auckland, New Zealand (2016 ). In 2019, a second Feature Film co-production with China through BY Media International and Marianna Films - MASTER CHENG - directed by Mika Kaurismaki, starring Anna-Maija Tuokko, Chu Pak Hong, principal photography in Lapland, Finland / Hangzhou, China.Through Brown Films and BY Media International, he is currently producing Brian Ward’s 1967-set drama, “INDIAN SUMMER” and developing Films for the Global marketplace - including the thriller, LISBOA (director Mika Kaurismaki), the series KINGDOM OF THE WOLVES ( by Brian Ward) and also Animation features and series.
