Software Engineer
As a software developer/engineer at Carfax, I pair program with my team to build, maintain, and refactor customer facing web applications and enterprise RESTful service APIs. We take an Agile, Test Driven approach to our software engineering. We do full-stack development at Carfax, pair switching frequently to prevent knowledge siloing. In recent years, I've successfully advocated refactoring portions of our monolithic services into microservices and creating new microservices around our data access. We gained clearer separation of concerns for the services driving our vehicle history delivery pipeline, making our services more maintainable overall.Most recently I've joined our interview team, helping to select candidates to fill open positions in our department.Technologies I work with regularly:* Java (primarily Java 8, with some legacy projects in Java 5).* Junit and Mockito, emphasizing Test Driven Development.* HTML, CSS, and Javascript* Jira, Mingle, Project Cards* A variety of web service frameworks, including: Java Servlets, Spring, RestEasy.* We use a combination of Gradle and Jenkins for our continuous integration needs.
