I am Director at Isio in Scotland with over 20 years consulting experience, advising trustee and corporate clients on all aspects of pensions.Following the launch of Isio, in addition to my consulting work, I have taken on leading our Research & Development team - which aims to support our consultants by helping them understand market developments and drive innovation and efficiencies across the organisation.In my consulting work I specialise in providing strategic pensions advice in complex situations, including funding negotiations, long term risk management, accounting, benefit design, transactions and asset backed funding.My experience includes:- strategy and due diligence work on the pensions aspects of corporate transactions;- designing and implementing asset backed funding structures;- advising on funding and integrated risk management strategies, including complex company/trustee negotiations and cases involving the Pensions Regulator;- corporate pensions cost and risk reduction, including pensions restructuring, future service changes and introduction / review of defined contribution arrangements;- acting as Scheme Actuary to a number of pension schemes;- PPF levy reduction advice;- preparation of pension disclosures of UK, US and International GAAP standards;- designing and implementing member option exercises;- pensions within insolvency situations, including calculating/assessment of section 75 debts;- developing the use of medial underwriting in insurance pricing and assumption setting; and- member communications, including leading workplace seminars and face-to-face briefings.I am a member of the Pensions Board of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Pensions Committee of the Association of Consulting Actuaries and the organising committee of the Scottish Actuaries Club.
