Having spent 20+ years running projects and in many cases recovering them, I realised I had a unique perspective and methodology for turning projects around. I shared these insights with key companies and launched IMB Consulting rescuing troubled projects within major banks. My clients included: Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, Citi Group, African Development Bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International, Macquarie, SysMedia, RedBee. In 2017, I decided to pause the development of the company to focus 100% on Bizhop. My extensive travels to Africa really put the idea for the suitcase at the front of my mind. I was continually carrying my jacket because of the heat. I wanted somewhere to hang my jacket so items wouldn’t fall out of the pockets and to be sure all my belongings were safe and together. I continued to pitch the idea to my travel companions and the feedback was so great I began developing prototypes for the #HangerHandle with my father in his garage. After a number of designs, we finally hit on the right one and I launched Bizhop Luggage in order to develop the patents and prove the concept in the real world, not just on paper.

EndState was a management services company I set up with a colleague, but after four years we decided to go our separate ways to pursue our own passions. From here I continued to develop IMB Consulting.

I joined the Association for Project Management in 2006 and was an active participant in the People SIG (the Special Interest Group looking at the People-side of project management). I am also keen helping the APM achieve its Charter status.

Rule Financial was a British multinational company based in London, UK that provided business consulting, technical consulting and IT services to investment banks, asset and wealth management and related financial institutions. During my time with Rule Financial, I travelled to Europe on average 2 days every week. The time spent travelling led me to have a keen interest in packing with efficiency and cutting out any faff. I began studying various methods for efficient packing, discoveries I have brought into the design of Bizhop cases.

UBS is Swiss global financial services company providing wealth management, asset management, and investment banking services for private, corporate and institutional clients worldwide. Within my role, I was responsible for Operations Risk, Reconciliations, Data Warehousing & OLAP, Euro, and Y2Y, plus data management from a single source of static data. It was during this time that I began to travel through airports extensively and developed the idea for #HangerHandle. All too frequently, I witness passengers balance their jacket on their suitcase handles as they waited to board. It became a game for my colleague and me to predict whose bag was going to fall over next because of the weight of the jacket. Seeing the problem, I floated the idea with my colleague and several other business travellers who all agreed a bag able to take the weight of their jack with a proper hanger was a valuable idea.

Admiral Computing specialised in bespoke software development, training, consultancy and IT Security. In June 2000, it was acquired by CMG. During my time with Admiral, I managed a number of fixed-price projects requiring hard-nosed project management. On a trip to Germany, I first encountered my frustration with travelling with a jacket. In those weeks, it was particularly hot so I couldn’t wear my jacket and had to carry it along with wheeling my suitcase. There was no easy solution. I began to notice everyone was struggling the same way. The ideas for #HangerHandle began to take shape.

Midland Bank was a major UK high-street bank before being taken over by HSBC in 1999. Joining the company as a developer, I quickly progressed to Project Manager. I gained experience in messaging, payments and SWIFT. I also received extensive training in team leadership, project management and man-management.
