Network Manager, responsible for a team of four, originaly started as Modern Apprentices and of which three are now members of staff.My duties at Whitburn School included a wide range of tasks from managing a large one thousand plus user network, consisting of over three hundred workstations, the acquisition and procurement of all IT related supplies and the installation of network hardware and software, including network actives and infrastructure cabling, data projectors and interactive whiteboards.I held the responsibility for managing software licences, internet filtering and account activation along with user support on both the curriculum and administrative sides of the school network, which incorporates a vast array of software from Microsoft Office applications to the school information management system (SIMS).In September 2004 I took over the site management duties on a temporary basis while a new permanent site manager was appointed. This was added to my duties as network manager. In this role I was also responsible for the maintenance of school buildings and any rennovations with compliance to health and saftey procedures and documentation. In this role I had to deal daily with contractors and the public in a variety of situations.I moved back to being the full time network manager and have been heavily involved within the design of the the new school and the hardware and software networking technologies that are to be implemented in the new building. I was also involved, with the setting up of CLaIT courses for dissapplied students, along with the very early stages of the school becoming a Microsoft Academy to aid in its specialist school status for Maths and Computing.During my time at Whitburn I was also responsible for the implementation of a Blackberry Enterprise Server linked to the schools own Microsoft Exchange 2000 server and issue of Blackberries to members of the schools management and administrative staff.
