The ABN AMRO Clearing division is a global 3rd party clearing and custody firm, a subsidiary of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. AAC provides funding, direct market access (DMA) and 3rd party clearing services to proprietary trading clients and other market participants.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThis is a strategic and regional role, handling the business as usual operations and deciding the technical platform and direction for new products and projects. I am Responsible for the Technology, IT Operations and Infrastructure in all Asia Pacific offices (Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo).- Build and manage a high functioning team of 18- Owner of the APAC Technology strategy and roadmap- Provide technical direction and advice making sure these decisions are aligned with the regionaland global strategies.- Participate on the Global IT board, and with the Enterprise Architecture group.- Service delivery, change control and problem and incident management.- Ensure our technical frameworks are consistent with IT governance (e.g. baselines, audits).- 2IC for the CIO, working closely with the Regional and Global management teamsKEY ACHIEVEMENTS- Moved Virtual Infrastructure to fully Active-Active datacenter design with zero downtime and disruption to the business.- Implemented ITIL framework across APAC; maintain or improve service levels and team commitment.- Developed a framework and methodology to efficiently handle audits based on the COBIT controls. - Achieved excellent outcomes in 3 separate audit activities in 2012 (Internal audit, DNB, KPMG).- ABN AMRO Clearing Japan managed to settle with the TSE during the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami - a direct outcome of the dedication of the team and the BCP and DR Virtualisation systems design.- Designed, commissioned and implemented a bespoke order cancellation and query system for 6 Asian exchanges saving approximately $450,000 for a similar vendor supplied system

A management and technical role with 4 direct reports. Manage the ‘virtual’ APAC infrastructure and systems team members in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.I mentor and provide direct guidance for the whole team of 23 IT staff Asia Pacific wide on matters of infrastructure and systems integration and design. Reports to the CIO in Sydney.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Business resilience and disaster recovery and tolerance.- Virtual Infrastructure; Storage, servers, software, networks, replication. Systems administration.- Project management, large infrastructure projects.- Development of automation, interfaces between trading and clearing systems.- Market Access for Equities and Derivatives Exchanges.- Databases, data manipulation, validation, integration.- Data centers.KEY ACHIEVEMENTS- Developed interfaces between trading and/or clearing systems for both equities and derivatives exchanges and our in house clearing system. Many interfaces process transactions in near-realtime for risk management purposes and intraday reporting to clients. I have developed interfaces for ASX, SFE, SGX, HKEx, TSE, OSE, KSE and TOCOM exchanges in Asia, amongst many others worldwide.- Developed in-house an automated scheduling system that controls day to day operations of our business in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Chicago and London. The system handles dependancies on holidays, time of day, and other jobs. It executes around 3500 tasks every day without human intervention and ensures that nightly processing finishes at the earliest possible time. - AAC is able to fail all of its critical infrastructure to a disaster recovery site in 15 minutes and be up an running with no loss of data or capacity. I managed the entire initiative from the concept stages. Proposals, budgets, RFP’s, implementation plans, vendor liaison, software and hardware systems integration, documentation and the actual physical deployment of equipment, testing and auditing.

In 2005 I was seconded to Singapore. With one other colleague we built a branch office, including clearing and trading memberships on the exchange, developing integration and reporting tools, infrastructure, office space fit-out, data center design. Relocation project had a budget of $2.4 million.• Improved client service by enabling delivery of printed output 1.5 hours earlier. This was achieved by statistical analysis of characters in our client reporting, and designing and manufacturing custom high speed printer bands that reduced printing time by 20%.

Netcomm (formerly Banksia) is an Australian manufacture of modems and other telecommunications equipment. In this role I was the country level support engineer for several of Netcomm’s product lines.
