I'm an engineer in the Platform department at Grafana Labs. We provide a platform-as-a-service to the rest of the engineering department. That platform contains all the cloud infrastructure on which we run Grafana Cloud. We also provide CI and CD support for the engineering organisation.I'm currently in a squad called Productivity. Our job is to own CI, CD, GitHub repository management, tooling to deploy Kubernetes environments (Tanka & Jsonnet), and engineering productivity in general.At the time of writing (2024), I'm focusing on enabling our engineers to use GitHub Actions, and also rolling out Backstage as a centralised entrypoint to our engineering platform.

Mainly I work in the GNOME packaging team, looking after the desktop environment and many packages in its ecosystem.

General package maintenance and QA as a member of the Core Developers team who are able to upload any package to Ubuntu. Member of the Release Team (delivering releases), and the Archive Admin team, maintaining the archive itself.

I worked in the Ubuntu Desktop team within Ubuntu Engineering at Canonical. Collectively the team maintains the desktop flavour of the Ubuntu Linux distribution. Within the team I had responsibility for looking after several key pieces of the software stack—building fixes and features (both upstream and downstream) as well as integrating those from others.For Ubuntu, and upstream in collaboration with developers from other distributions including Debian, I maintained the AppStream generator. This is a service, running in the cloud, which provides metadata to users of Ubuntu from 16.04 onwards that is processed from package upload and enables a rich and high quality software discovery and installation experience.I am part of the release team which makes calls about changes to be included past freeze time and also manages the creation of the actual releases themselves. Another aspect of release work I performed is maintaining the distro-wide CI infrastructure that tests packages on every change, on several architectures, before they are released to users.In the past I was involved in the Ubuntu Touch project to bring Ubuntu to phones. I was particularly involved in the early creation of the System Settings application, written using Qt and QML.
