Designed & developed real-time embedded software solutions for intelligent multi-feature payphones. Developed payphone management system software and embedded software to manage secure smart-card telecoms transactions on Siemens SLE4404, 4409 & 4436 chipsets. A key area of expertise I acquired was in the IT security domain with the development & design of new state-of-the-art smart-card technology to enable secure payment on telecommunications products. Specifically this involved developing algorithms using RSA encryption to run on an embedded system on the smart-card, ensuring secure transactions. This required us to conform to the UK government security agency CESG (part of the GCHQ) security standard, IT SEC level E3, as the solution effectively licensed us to electronically printing money. A large degree of liaison with this agency was required to achieve conformity with a very new technology.
