About Inês Aires
For the past 9 years I dedicated my career to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of vision diseases, aiming to uncover new pharmacological therapies to halt neurodegeneration. During this time, I realize that science captivates me by how a simple idea converted into a plan once explored in a lab bench and translated into clinical practice can lead to major breakthroughs in disease management. This puzzling perspective led me to pursue the next step, to cross from pre-clinical to translational research. The last challenging years, while I pursued my PhD in aging and chronic diseases, allowed me to acquire endurance and organization skills essential for any professional. Now I aim at fulfilling my long-time goal of working in clinical research and help improving patient care.
