I am a neurologist-scientist (MD, PhD) with laboratory and clinical research experience. A significant part of my bench research was done at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics (NIA, NIH), where I worked as a postdoctoral research fellow for almost 7 years. During my adult neurology residency in addition to clinical training I was also a Co-Investigator in a clinical trial related to the use of combination of two neuroprotective agents in acute ischemic stroke and a Resident Patient Safety Officer. Currently, I am working as a neurohospitalist at UPMC Western Maryland and exploring further career pathways.

As a co-investigator, I have participated in the design of the trial, coordination of the study between different departments, and patient enrollment to the study. In the nearest future we are planning to perform interim analysis of the data.

In the laboratory we worked as multidisciplinary collaborative team that used wide range of molecular, cellular and animal models to look at the effects of mutations on proteins and of mutant or missing proteins on cells and on the function of the aging nervous system. To answer these questions, we preferentially used large-scale or unbiased approaches where possible. -
