Dr. Haroon Rashid is a Pakistani origin academician, technopreneur and motivational speaker. He is the Founder & Director of Xpertopedia Academy.He completed his PhD in Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, MSc in Microelectronics Engineering, both from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and B.Eng. (Hons.) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom.He has over 13 years of working experience with various reputable organizations, locally and abroad. He has been a mentor of various undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has given over hundreds of invited talks and training.He is an active member and volunteer of several local and international professional organizations and associations such as: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) – USA, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) – United Kingdom, and National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) – Pakistan and many others.Since 2015, he has been serving as an active and dedicated volunteer with IEEE at several positions at Malaysia Section and Asia Pacific levels. Currently, he is serving as: Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Malaysia Chair of IEEE Consultants Network Malaysia Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section Blockchain Regional Representative (Asia Pacific) of IEEE PES Young Professionals Regional Lead (Asia Pacific) of IEE PES Day Students & Young Professionals Activities Chair of IEEE PES Malaysia Chapter and many other leading roles.He is also the current Vice-Chair of IET Young Professionals Section Malaysia.He is the recipient of 2021 IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award 2021 IEEE Malaysia Section Outstanding Professional Activities Award and the 2020 IEEE Malaysia Section Outstanding Volunteer Awardfor his enormous contributions in increasing members’ engagement, enhancing collaboration and cooperation within IEEE and with external organizations.He is an author of over 30 research articles and 3 books. He is a regular reviewer of IEEE, Elsevier, and Optica. His current research interests are in the areas of novel 2D materials for optoelectronic applications, thin films fabrication and characterization for renewable energy applications, nanotechnology, solar photovoltaics, and smart grid technologies.
