We started B.L.A.C.K. to act as an educational partner to museums around our country in order to not only inform and educate everyday Americans on Black History, but to celebrate the individuals that either played on Black sports teams or served in Black units of our military. B.L.A.C.K. (Bases Loaded Authentic Clothing and Kaps) specializes in licensed apparel for the Negro Leagues, the Buffalo Soldiers and the Tuskegee Airmen, focusing on both the history of these heroic groups and individuals, and the impact that their contributions had on America.I've been working in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion space for over 20 years, specifically focused on the achievements of people of color in sports and the military. My background is hotel management with Marriott. I spent 13 years learning from the ground up how to understand the basic elements of working in a business: how to deal with personality and cultural differences, how to do sales and promotion, budgets, marketing, how to upsell customers, how to put our fires and most importantly...How to LISTEN. My business has given me the unique opportunity to spend a good amount of time with the people that actually created the history that I am representing. They are not just names in a book, they have become friends and family. I have heard the backstories to their accomplishments and I have the ability to get their stories to people that want them and would not otherwise have access to them.
