Internship TraineeIslamabad Electricity Supply Company Jul 2017 - Aug 2017Islamabad, PakistanIESCO was formed in 1998 to take over the assets, functions and responsibilities of the erstwhile Islamabad Area Electricity Board, which was then a division of WAPDA. IESCO's core function is to supply, distribute and sell power (electricity) in the area from Attock to Jheleum, and from the river Indus to River Neelum in Kashmir. It services 2.8 million consumers directly, but touches the lives of more than 25 mln people living in the 6 districts its services.during my period of internship, i went through the following experience:At grid station, there is capacitor bank for maintaining of voltage level. Due to rain and moisture, carbon produces between aluminum and iron. So after rain, line man crush carbon because that carbon lessened the current going and tripped the circuit or fused the fuse. Once 11kV trolley become out of order. Actually it continued taking pulse signal from the system or from the battery panel. Foreman detected that its Rotatory switch connections has become out of order with its pulse continually taken from the panel. P&I have authority to detect the electric issue in the panel and solve it.But P&I department have detected mechanical problem , they detected that by screwing out a screw in the discharging rod, the rotator switch connections become clear and function able. When system detected some problem in its working Yard then the trolley break the breaker and its rotator switch those connection become close which input the pulse and break it by the winding. Similarly for functioning of trolley rotator switch those connections will open or close which open the breaker and made the trolley functioning. Due to mechanical problem, rotator switch connections don’t alter and continually taken pulse from the panel. That continued pulse can break the winding or the relay system.
