Usha has over a decade of experience understanding and helping children with developmental needs and their families to be equipped with skills required for daily living and learning. She holds a Master of Education (Special Education) from National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore and has obtained Diploma in Learning Disorder Management and Child Psychology from the College of Allied Educators, Singapore in 2013.She has directed early intervention programmes together with a team of allied health professionals and special education teachers. Usha has successfully coached students to transit into mainstream or special education schools who were otherwise not qualified for entry using evidence-based cognitive development assessments and intervention methods. Usha employs an eclectic approach to teaching and learning using various intervention methods such as Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment, Search and Teach, Merrill Reading Programme, Handwriting Without Tears, and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).Usha believes a person’s ability to learn can be improved when provided a conducive learning environment. As a mediator, she adapts herself to the children’s learning style allowing them to learn at their own pace strengthening their cognitive development and develop better social – emotional regulation.
