    - Engineered a vibration-based, biofilm disrupting working prototype for patients with Grade 1 Stage A/B diabetic foot wounds, to be used at home by a caregiver, to reduce the cost of wound treatment, within 13 weeks.- Collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, doctors and MBA students and brainstormed different potential solutions. Interviewed diabetic foot wound patients and podiatrists to understand their pain points and strategically incorporated potential solutions in our prototype.- Applied the biodesign process including regulatory, intellectual property and reimbursement concepts taught in class to ensure our product is commercially viable. - Spearheaded the project by arranging meetings with external regulatory and reimbursements consultants, IP lawyers and clinical trial strategists. Mitigated the risk to FDA Class II 510K.- Strategically designed a razor-razor blade business model to not only ensure a sustainable business but also to reduce the cost of diabetic foot wound treatment to almost 10% of the current treatment cost.- Drafted and submitted an invention disclosure for our prototype to the NUS Industry Liaison Office (ILO).- Creatively pitched at the final closed-door presentation and won Best Team Award and the opportunity to present to venture capitals during the SSB graduation ceremony.

    - Conceived a novel study with the help of my PhD mentor, to develop Polyetherimide membranes incorporated with polydopamine coated SBA-15 (pDA-SBA-15) using phase inversion technique (immersion precipitation) for oil/water emulsion separation.- Characterized the fabricated SBA-15 and pDA-SBA-15 using SEM, TEM, FT-IR, XPS, XRD and AFM to study its physical and chemical properties.- Evaluated the filtration performance of the fabricated pDA-SBA-15 incorporated membranes using an ultrafiltration kit and observed an enhanced pure water flux of 196 L m-2 hr-1 compared to pristine PEI membranes and >99% removal of oil when tested with a synthetic emulsion.- Determined its potential industrial applicability, by testing the pDA-SBA-15 incorporated membranes with produced water and observed a flux decline of only around 15% after 9 hours of operation thereby exhibiting excellent flux regeneration and anti-fouling properties.- Conducted bacteria adhesion studies using gram-negative bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram-positive bacterium, Bacillus subtilis, and observed a reduction of bacterial adhesion of >90% by the pDA-SBA-15 incorporated membranes.
