Patrick Williams has built a reputation as a good and ethical public servant and tireless fighter for the men, women and children of Shreveport and the problems and illnesses they battle every day. As both a state legislator and a former Caddo Parish Commissioner, Patrick is widely known for his ability to work across party lines, to see through rhetoric to the heart of an issue and to work to find solutions that positively effect the people he represents.Elected to serve as state representative for District 4, Patrick quickly established his voice as an advocate for health care, especially for children. He has introduced and sponsored bills to provide better access to health services for autistic children and stood behind Medicaid coverage for the treatment of obesity in children. His passion for children became the driving factor in Patrick deciding to start a yearly walk from Shreveport to the State Capital at the beginning of each legislative session. Going into its 4th year in 2014, the 226 mile walk raises awareness for Childhood Obesity and Autism in Louisiana. As a result, Williams has been named Legislator of the Year by the YMCA and State Representative of the Year by the Louisiana Assembly on School Based Health Care. Before serving the people of Shreveport in Baton Rouge, Patrick served as a Caddo Parish Commissioner, giving him the unique experience, insight and working knowledge into the city’s budget, inner workings, infrastructure needs and fiscal priorities. An entrepreneur and small business owner, Patrick has is own Architectural Engineering consultant firm and has worked on projects such as the YWCA Women’s Shelter, the Sci-Port Space Center, the Central Fire Station , the Bossier Parish Courthouse and the Shreveport Regional Airport.
