We specialise in providing subject-matter expertise relating to the management, operation and risk assessment of superyachts.◼️ Successfully developed a ground-breaking new method of risk evaluation for superyacht insurance, enabling a Marine Underwriter to become the leading superyacht insurer in the London market, underwriting 9 of the top 10 global superyachts. ◼️ Overcame intractable logistical and regulatory obstacles to obtain approval / exemption on a safety-case basis for filming of spectacular, ground-breaking beach landing sequence, involving four oar-propelled landing craft on a beach with breaking surf, for an iconic film that grossed more than $320m worldwide. ◼️ Provided court evidence on behalf of company which successfully salvaged container ship in Hong Kong territorial waters, where owners had unreasonably driven up repair costs then declared vessel worthless. Arbitration concluded owners acted unreasonably, resulting in a multi-million dollar salvage award. ◼️ Provided Expert Witness services for a Secretary who sustained a spinal injury whilst travelling to work, achieving substantial damages for the complainant. ◼️ Undertook structural condition surveys of 11 VLCCs and ULCCs on behalf of an Oil Major in order to identify a suitable candidate for conversion to FSPO. Completed FEED study, sat on Bid Evaluation team for contract award and oversaw conversion of selected vessel. ◼️ Led restoration project for SS Yavari, a 100 year old ship that was abandoned on the shore of Lake Titicaca and had degraded over a decade. Vessel was restored to full working condition and holds a current world record for “oldest operating diesel engine in the world on the oldest working passenger ship in the world”. -
