Ian currently serves as the Director of Industry Workforce Development and Innovation for Trimble Inc., where he focuses on emerging technologies and implementations across educational institutions, key accounts, research and special projects. Ian received a BA in Architectural Studies, BS in Business Administration, and MA in Architectural Management with an emphasis in Design-Build Construction Management from the University of Kansas while working in the trades and construction. He now serves as an adjunct professor at several universities, union and non-union training programs, trade schools and colleges. With several decades of agricultural, forestry, construction, architectural and facilities experience, he advocates for the integration of technological advances and continuous education to help increase efficiency, safety, quality, equity and sustainability across numerous industries. In his spare time, Ian manages residential construction projects, forest management and real estate investments with his wife and dogs in Colorado between work, hiking and skiing.

In his new role, Ian will be responsible for delivering Trimble technologies and related education programs (e.g., Trimble Technology Labs) to key industry trade and technical organizations ‒ including labor unions, trade schools, two-year colleges and workforce training centers ‒ with a goal of driving workforce growth, career development, and the sales and adoption of Trimble solutions by current and future workers in construction, agriculture, surveying and transportation industries. Ian brings extensive construction industry expertise and is a long time advocate for the integration of technologies in the field and educational programs for improving efficiency, safety, quality, equity and sustainability. Since joining Trimble in 2013, he has focused on emerging technologies and implementations across educational institutions, key accounts, labor unions and funded research. Prior to Trimble, Ian worked with JE Dunn Construction for over 11 years, where he held roles as a project manager, concrete foreman, superintendent, and VDC manager. He completed the Carpenters Union Apprenticeship program to become a Journeyman Carpenter during his Superintendent Training program with JE Dunn and has been advocating for the trade training programs ever since. Ian received a BA in Architectural Studies, BS in Business Administration, and MA in Architectural Management with an emphasis in Design-Build Construction Management from the University of Kansas while working in the trades and construction. -
