Ian is the Head of Asset Management at Dublin International Airport. Ian holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from University of Dundee and has numbers post graduate qualifications in project management, leadership and is a chartered member of Engineers Ireland. Ian has more than 20 year experience in the Aviation sector, during this time Ian has held numerous position within the daa group’s Infrastructure Department. In 2020 Ian was appointed as the Head of Asset Management with overall responsibility for the effective and efficient performance of the diverse range of Asset across the Dublin Airport campus.In his role Ian is responsible for the overall performance of the multi-billion euro asset base across the Dublin Airports campus with a focus on key infrastructure assets including business critical Runway assets, Baggage assets and the effective and efficient performance of all business passenger sensitive equipment (PSE) assets. Ian in this key role work’s very closely with the Director of Infrastructure in the development of Asset management policy, strategy and infrastructure objectives and plays a leading role in driving a strong safety culture throughout the Asset Management teams. Driving a culture of innovation & continuous improvement through the adoption of new process, technology and effective and efficient work practices.Ian has a proven track record for delivering and leading change and some of his accomplishments over his 20 year career in aviation have been the delivery of strategic airport infrastructure across the daa group, the Cork Airport redevelopment 2006, transforming Dublin Airport Programme 2010, development of Terminal 2 and most recently the work towards the delivery of Dublin Airports New Northern Runway 2022. Over the course of the last decade Ian’s career at daa has taken a different direction with focus on Asset Management and transformational change within the daa group. Over the course of this time Ian has played a leading role in developing the Asset Management culture within the group with Dublin Airport recognised as the first International Airport to be awarded the ISO55001 Asset Management Standard. More recently Ian has led the Asset Management function through one of the most significant downturns in the aviation sector and as daa emerge from the global pandemic is leading the Asset Management team through a major transformational programme.
