The Commercial Support Services Unit team provides system solutions, analytics, and processing capabilities that support those specialist disability service providers within the state government environment, to operate under the new National Disability Insurance Scheme. A growing focus is the provision of management information to quantify business performance and the efficiency levels being achieved.

The Child & Youth Services business area was the first area of the Department to embark upon the transition of its services to the National Disability Insurance Scheme model. As part of the Executive Management Team, systems and processes were put in place to track this transition and understand the cost and operational matters that needed to be managed in a fully competitive market environment.

This team of 10 staff administered the brokering of approximately $175M p.a. of service required by clients with disabilities from over 250 non-government organisations. To manage the annual growth in these services, new cloud based technologies were rolled out during this time, to replace out-dated systems - enabling the electronic offering and acceptance of contracts by NGO's, and to streamlining invoicing processes.
