- Engineering Manager of a multi-disciplinary railway project: Feltham Re-signalling: Conclusion of GRIP 3 Signalling, Telecoms, Systems, E&P (Signalling Power, Level Crossing Lighting), Track (Remodelling), Civils (Location Bases, OD Suitability, Signal Box Demolition), Level Crossings (MCB-OD, MCB-CCTV, MSL); GRIP 4 tender submission, Contractor’s Engineering Manager (CEM) responsible for co-ordinating all the technical aspects of the bid and providing stewardship to the delivery team as necessary; - Engineering Manager of new technology/innovation: Introduction of a new interlocking into the UK rail market: Managed the EMC DC Site Trials project to prove the interlocking will function safely and reliably in electrically environments that are ‘towards the worst case end of the scale’ of those that would be encountered on UK electrified railways;- Engineering Manager of a semi-rural railway project: Cambridge Resignalling GRIP 3: Responsible for ensuring that all client requirements were identified and that a methodology was developed to deliver the project in the most efficient manner. Interfaced closely with the discipline technical leads to ensure that Atkins presented a co-ordinated response that demonstrated our ability to deliver the project;- Responsible for authoring, checking, or authorising engineering and safety critical work documentation and leading technical investigations as required;- IRSE Work Place assessor qualified and currently working towards attaining IRSE Senior Engineering Manager (Project Engineering) Licence 7.8.230Fv1.

Provided asset management tools and expertise to enable clients to optimally manage assets using a lifecycle approach. - Lead RAM Engineer for the Bank Station Systems Integration and Upgrade Project. Implemented the project RAM strategy to inform London Underground and other stakeholders as to how they will be assured that the RAM requirements of the project were to be achieved;- Technical Lead for the development of the London Rail 10-year asset investment plans. Worked closely with the client to ensure that Atkins presented a co-ordinated approach that demonstrated our ability to deliver the project;- Team member for the Signalling Power Supply asset data collection and verification project as part of the national Network Rail initiative;- Supported Atkins’ team that will integrate UK Traffic Management System (TMS) with the UK railway signalling and telecommunication’s infrastructure.

Thameslink Programme (TLP) a £6.5 billion multidisciplinary engineering upgrade project to north-south commuter route through London. - Developed an overall Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) model to assess the performance of TLP train services (timetable) over a prescribed period of time addressing infrastructure (signalling, track, civils) and train reliability, maintenance and logistics strategy and operation strategy;- Introduced a robust process for managing requests for railway performance modelling, produced and developed system modelling technical reports to enable projects to proceed through key delivery milestones;- Implemented production of monthly railway performance modelling status reporting, developing a dashboard progress monitor which provided both the current status (snapshot) and historical trends of railway performance modelling deliverables;- Identified and managed training needs, professional development and engagement of team members.

Managed the WSF (Wrong Side Failure) Steward Level Sign Off across 5 DUs (Delivery Units) and 7 SMEs (Signal Maintenance Engineers). - Successfully managed the SINCS System, whereby Anglia Maintenance Area was established as having the best record of SINCS file closure nationally;- Reviewed and signed off Signalling and Telecommunications failures at Steward (Area) Level. Produced and briefed out monthly signalling performance reports;- Implemented several performance enhancement initiatives including the introduction of a more reliable Light Emitting Diode (LED) design signal lamp and Solid State Interlocking (SSI) asset performance improvements;- Delivered audits of signalling depots WSF procedures, including FMS inputting and consistency with dealing with failure closeouts.

Responsible for ensuring that the signalling assets for the Sussex Area were maintained and renewed to deliver Network Rail’s safety and other objectives. The scope of the maintenance area for which I was responsible was 700 track miles covering 2 signalling maintenance depots and 8 signalling maintenance sub depots.- Managed signalling maintenance compliance for and on behalf of the Sussex Area Signal Engineer and carried out a number of technical investigations.

Responsible for ensuring that the production departments were compliant with the required technical standards.

Monitored the performance of the signalling systems in order to identify weaknesses to assist with planning of improved methods of working.

Provided project management and a specialist technical engineering service to trains fitted with on-board data recording equipment.

Provided a specialist reliability engineering service to the Director of Traction & Rolling Stock’s (T&RS) team.

Provided a technical engineering service for Network South East (NSE) vehicles in respect of all aspects of electronic power control and auxiliary and data/identification and energy monitoring system.

Responsible for fault finding and commissioning of electronic modules incorporated within a range of simulation systems including flight, naval and tank.
