Content and social media: I managed the content, social media, data and audience development teams, planned the content calendar and campaigns, and worked collaboratively with a large number of departments to establish strategy. I then drove those strategies through leadership, making particular use of data and evidence when setting priorities with the UX and web development teams and persuading others to change their working practices.Organisational change: I wrote the web content strategy that has transformed online publishing at the Library, greatly increase publishing capacity in line with organisation objectives.Innovation: I am led the definition of a new mobile app that would analyse the actions and requests of the Library’s users at all levels of engagement, from Members and Readers to casual visitors, and recommend content from the collection, the website, exhibitions and events that would be most useful for each individual. The aim was to introduce truly individualised content marketing based on a rich stream of CRM data on a fully open and voluntary basis in a mutually beneficial relationship.Audience development: I researched and implemented new data research methods - including more useable and useful web analytics and tools for tracking search performance for hundreds of keywords - into the organisation to drive an SEO, brand and audience development programme, resulting in a 40 per cent increase in traffic in target areas in less than ten months. Social media sharing also saw significant increases, and I used the Library’s large social media audience as part of the content strategy to meet new objectives, such as using Facebook live video to publicise the enlarged events programme.
  • Telegraph Media Group
    Digital Development Editor
Telegraph Media Group Aug 2013 - Mar 2016
It was my job to transform the Telegraph. I identified digital methods of storytelling that can make the most impact with the content the reporters produce, then lead often reluctant journalists into using methods of communicating with their audience that they might not have expected to encounter professionally, and make them comfortable with the change.I led digital teams that built tools to enable journalists to take advantage of the movement in their own organisation and the digital world outside. I led programmes of change including internal organisation, communication and training to maximise the use made of those tools.
