Ian is a Financial Modelling and Mineral Processing Consultant with over 20 years of experience in design, construction, and operation of processing plants in the extractive industry. Ian’s recent career focus has been on financial and operating cost modelling and reviews. He has extensive experience in flow-sheet simulation using steady state and dynamic simulations.Ian’s most recent engagement is with Iluka where he is a Senior Process Engineer responsible for developing process flowsheets, process engineering design and plant commissioning of Mineral Sands processes. Prior to joining Iluka, Ian was a Process and Opex Consultant and Financial Modeller for Hatch, where he was responsible for compiling and analysing operating cost and financial models based on process designs, operating structures and capital project estimates and schedules for mining companies involved in iron ore, coal, mineral sands, uranium, diamonds and platinum group metals.Prior to his work with Hatch, Ian was the Research & Development Manager for Multotec where he was responsible for extending the groups range of products which included cyclones, spirals, magnetic concentrators as well as in-line and batch sampling equipment. Ian was responsible for managing the laboratory personnel, as well as the test-work programme, upgrading product offerings and IP protection of the company and its technology. Prior to joining Multotec, Ian was a Senior Process Engineer for de Beers Technology, where he consulted with the wider de Beers group to optimise process circuit configurations for maximising revenue and profitability. Ian was also responsible for integrating the mineral resource management and metallurgical functions by tying bulk samples analysis to specific ore body evaluations.
