Ian Ensell, hailing from Dallas, Texas, is a seasoned professional with a diverse career spanning across industries. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at DME Energy Resources.Ian’s journey began post-college when he immersed himself in the realm of Information Technology, specializing as a Network Systems Administrator. Notably, three of his initial five years in this field were spent at Hewlett-Packard. However, with grander aspirations in mind, he made a significant pivot into the oil and gas industry. His foray into this dynamic sector commenced with Ensign, where he started on drilling rigs and swiftly ascended through the ranks. In 2009, he transitioned into the role of a directional driller, initially with Ensign and later with Scientific. In 2012, Ian embarked on a new chapter by joining Anadarko as a contract Drill Site Supervisor, contributing his expertise to their operations. As the oil and gas landscape evolved, Ian’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Freedom Drilling Services in 2014. As one of the founding members of Freedom Drilling, Ian achieved rapid and sustained growth, securing contracts with every drilling rig operator in the DJ Basin.In 2016, Ian joined WPX Energy as a contract Drill Site Supervisor. In one short year, WPX recognized his talent and offered him a superintendent role. He continued to excel in this position, even through the merger with Devon Energy. During this tenure, Ian played a pivotal role in guiding multiple successful team-driven economic milestones, all while overseeing operations for up to 21 rigs concurrently. In July of 2021, Ian and his family made the significant decision to relocate from Colorado to Dallas. Most recently, in June of 2023, Ian joined forces with Hill Country Exploration, assuming his current role as COO with DME Energy, marking the next exciting chapter in his career.
