Hired in March of 2013, I am the first and remain the only Software Engineer employed by Tableau with the responsibility of designing, architecting and developing a new, company-owned Web Map Service for the complete range of Tableau products. As the principle software engineer assigned to the project, I have been the sole contributor of all source code for the project. Since the release of the product in June 2014, I continue to support the existing map tile service as well as function as an active contributor on a number of other geospatial projects within Tableau.• Sole developer and architect for Tableau's recently released map service. Developed all source code, unit tests, and functional tests related to the service. Deployed a Continuous Integration environment to streamline deployment and report source code metrics such as code coverage.• Worked closely with the Tableau GIS Engineers in establishing spatial data requirements including formats, schema and spatial accuracy.• With the assistance of an internal Network Operations group, I actively support both a Windows development environment as well as a production Linux cluster in AWS. • Developed the SOA plan for Tableau's AWS production cluster, including EC2 performance and cost estimation, failover strategy and auto-scale parameters. Designed a system that allows for the failure of up to 3 AWS Regions without any service interruption.

I was initially hired as the Chief Architect of Web Services for the company after it was determined that a new approach to the existing web architecture was needed. After spending approximately 18 months as the sole architect and developer of a new web architecture, my role was expanded to include the management of a team of software developers with divergent expertise. I am currently responsible for all web-based products for the company as well as a part-time developer on exploratory projects related to driving the company’s technology offering forward.• Acting Chief Architect of Web Services for the company’s web service platform. Indirectly manage, coach and mentor a team of 9 individuals responsible for the design, development and testing of the company’s SaaS offering.• Executive representative for web-related technology implementations for both internal and external contacts.• Principally responsible for the technological roadmap for the company as it relates to web and web service offerings.• Designed and developed a new web-service platform architecture in less than 9 months. The new architecture mimics the behavior of a typical operating system with priority queues, failover protection, and process pooling for greater computational efficiency all in a web environment. • Designed and developed a tile-based mapping engine for the purposes of rendering diverse geospatial content on publicly available APIs such as Google Maps, Google Earth, Bing Maps, Yahoo! Maps as well as an internal mapping engine.• Designed a new JavaScript UI and API framework to support content delivery and enhance customization opportunities for internal and external customers.

As president and founder of AnalyGIS, LLC I was principally involved at all levels of the company. AnalyGIS was a Geography Information Systems (GIS) software development and consulting firm I founded to support the needs of organizations looking to develop or enhance geospatial intelligence and analysis. As the initial developer and consultant I would routinely travel to customer facilities to develop software, provide consultative services and training for 1 to 100 employees at a time. Additionally, I authored all software for the company’s contract engagements as well as provided follow-up support for past engagements. At the time of the company’s sale in June of 2008, AnalyGIS could claim a number of Fortune 500 firms as clients.• Successfully grew the company from its founding in 2000 to its eventual sale in 2008 with an average CAGR over 30%.• Designed and developed a national set of GIS data for resale.• Architected a geocoding API for use in web and desktop applications.• Designed a high-quality map rendering engine for use in publishing environments.• Designed a complete geospatial process engine based on existing open source software and libraries.• Designed a mobile handset tracking application with geofencing capabilities in support of a Bay-area trucking company.• Developed a mobile mapping application for the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police Department to coordinate navigation to, and intelligence about, calls for service throughout the transit network.

I worked as a Target Marketing Specialist where I used Geodemographic Segmentation to identify target markets and roll-out strategies to deliver high-speed DSL to residential consumers in the US.Additionally, I worked to refine the DSL qualification process to better assess whether potential customers were either inside or outside of a DSL service area.

I was primarily responsible for the development of GIS applications - both desktop and web - for a wide array of Empower clients. Working solely with MapInfo technology, I developed applications using MapBasic, MapInfo Professional and MapXtreme as well as provided Authorized Training Center instruction for Empower customers at an in-office facility.
