During my PhD I took two 'break from studies' positions. First, working for an MP in their constituency office and then working as a policy advisor in the Cabinet Office. Digital Civics is a cross-disciplinary endeavour that brings together researchers in the fields of computer science (Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous Computing, and Computer Security, Privacy and Trust) with researchers in Public Health, Social Care, Education, Planning and Politics.

During a second break from studies during my PhD I was seconded to the Open Innovation Team in the Cabinet Office to work on emerging technologies and policy innovations.

Within this busy, award-winning communications team I had particular responsibility for children's services and led on successful campaigns for many service areas including public protection and the employability and skills services.I had responsibility for internal communications to staff from across the council's wide-ranging services, producing a weekly internal newsletter alongside other communications channels. I contributed articles for the residents magazine and helped co-ordinate the distribution of the hard copies across the county and region.I have experience of dealing with reactive press questions and FOI requests on a range of issues, and working with services to communicate proactively to residents, partners and agencies.Social media is routinely integrated into my campaigns and forms part of the evaluation and measurement of all campaigns. Worked with various groups of young learners. Specialism in challenging pupils and children with various SEN.

Worked with mixed ability groups of pupils developing their performing arts skills in various settings. I used my creative writing skills, and ability to successfully direct a company creative and enthusiastic groups to produce successful performance art works in professional contexts.

Developed my one-to-one personal skills working with children and groups of pupils to overcome learning barriers in a productive and meaningful manner, developing successful personalised learning strategies.

Oversaw and led learners on various technical and performance projects, including GCSE and A-level examinations and public performances

Creating and developing promotional materials for local artists and musicians, including video editing and press pack design.
