    The Brakes Group is a leading European wholesaler of food and catering equipment to the catering industry, with sales of circa £2.8bn., and is majority owned by funds controlled by Bain Capital. I have been a member of the Main Board since September 2007.From May 2009 onwards I took over day-to-day responsibility for the £1.8bn UK business. During this year the Group achieved a significant improvement in EBITDA despite the weak economy, with the entirety of the improvement delivered from the UK.In March 2010 we completed the acquisition of one of the major Swedish players in the foodservice market, adding over £450m of sales to the Brakes Group. I led the acquisition programme from the first contact with the Chairman of Menigo some years before, through initial management meetings, preparation of the business case and the due diligence processes. Once acquired I was Chairman of the Menigo Board.
