After graduating in 1992, spent 8 years working within finance in the private sector. Experience gained in managing budgets, accounts reconciliation, credit control. In 2000 a career in Local Government commenced at Liverpool. Working within Performance Management in Social Services I was a project officer monitoring and helping to improve performance indicators. Whilst in full time employment I studied part time to gain a Masters Degree in Urban Regeneration. I also worked for free for Liverpool Council as a consultant to gain experience in an urban regeneration role, writing a paper on community engagement methods. In 2005 I was successful in gaining my first position in an urban regeneration position when I accepted the Urban Renewal Officer post at Halton Borough Council. After developing this role I advanced into a project manager, successfully completing a number of schemes and projects in Widnes and Runcorn town centres. In 2012 promotion to the Trader Liaison and Regeneration Officer was achieved which added responsibility for markets in addition to the town centres. In 2015 Widnes Outdoor Market gained the accolade of UK Small Outdoor Market of the year. In 2020 successful implementation of revised rents and regulations for Widnes Outdoor Market. Line management of a small team also began who assist in this challenging role.In February 2020 commenced role of Principal Economic Regeneration Officer at West Lancashire Borough Council.
