About Ian Hamilton

I am a scientist with more than a decade combined experience in laboratory molecular biology, computer simulation development, and customer-focused scientific software implementations. Most recently, I have been working as a Field Application Scientist for L7 Informatics, an Austin software company whose product ESP (Enterprise Science Platform) provides life sciences research organizations with an integrated data, workflow, and resource management platform. I completed my PhD at the University of Texas at Austin in the lab of Dr. Rick Russell, where I applied quantitative biophysical techniques to understand details of nucleic acid electrostatics and RNA folding. I was a molecular simulations developer at Rice University, working in Python/Cython. I also co-founded a scientific and engineering consulting company assisting startups with emerging technologies.
