• Disseminates information and instructions from senior levels to persons under my charge.• Analyzes reports generated by P.P.M.S. and acts as appropriate.• Monitors the security of the complex.• Carries out high voltage switching.Coordinates maintenance activities among maintenance departments and contractors.• Delegates authority to staffers commensurate with their assigned responsibilities.• Advises management on any defect or malfunctioning of units and make recommendations for their repairs, and also to timely inform on the loss of generation and delays in returning units to service.• Ensures that emergency and standby equipment are tested and readily available. Ensures plant and equipment are operated within designed specifications and parameters.• Ensures that logbooks are read and acknowledgments noted on commencement of shift and all relevant information pertaining to operations and station activities are logged on completion of shift.

Conducts all required pre-checking operations for the unit prior to start-up and shut down with respect to all Control Room equipment, plant, and accessories.• Initiates start-up procedures and brings unit to steady-state of operation in accordance with operating procedures.Operates and regulates the system by monitoring and taking corrective actions to deviation from system parameters.• Prepares operating logs from information produced by the PPMS system and other data collecting and indication systems.• Alerts and reports to, the Team Lead Operations, on any defects and unsafe conditions requiring urgent attention and assistance.• Documents all communication with System Control and follows instructions with respect to the loading and switching operations.• Record daily unit production figures for verification/confirmation by the Plant Engineer Operations.Carries out operating instructions as given by the Team Lead Operations and Management. • Periodically reviews all operating and safety procedures and make recommendations for improvements where appropriate.• Carries out instructions from System Control relating to loading and switching operations on the grid system.• Documents emergency switching, routine and abnormal operating activities in accordance with the local standing instructions and taking appropriate actions.• Log hourly readings, routine activities, abnormal events, communications with system control and fuel supplier on a daily basis.
