Ian has been appointed as the headmaster at Unicorn Preparatory from January 2014. Being born and bred in the quiet town of Krugersdorp in August 1968, he completed his conscription as a permanent force member in the South African Airforce and then worked for a year as a food & beverage manager for a country club on the Westrand. His first love has always been teaching and he was accepted to the Pretoria College of Education in 1991. In 1993, due to the downsizing of teacher training colleges, he completed his H. Dip. Ed. at Johannesburg College of Education. Since qualification in 1994 he has worked in 7 schools and with only 3 1/2 of those years in non-management positions. He was appointed as deputy head at Unicorn Preparatory in October 2009, where he still lives and works in the beautiful and tranquil Lowveld town of Tzaneen. Ian completed an Honours Degree in Educational Law & Management and will be pursuing a Masters Degree in 2015.
