With a keen interest in environmental education I serve as a Board member of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), working alongside international bodies including the the UN, businesses, and academia, to tackle climate breakdown, biodiversity loss and pollution. At FEE work is delivered both directly and by members through FEE's programmes (eg Blue Flag, Eco-Schools). FEE also works closely with the North American Association for Environmental Education and its Global Environmental Education Partnership, where I serve as an advisor. As a Board member of Northern Ireland Environment Link (NIEL), I work to influence policy and promote collaboration in order to achieve the necessary change. In my view, working together in this way is the only way forward.Ultimately, I believe the quote that follows, helps place us at the beginning of the only discussion that matters: can we learn to live within our means and in getting there, what are the values society needs to embrace? I have c30 years experience in the eNGO sector, working at The Conservation Volunteers (1994-2008) in various roles culminating as Operations Manager and then Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful (2008-2024). As CEO at KNIB I developed successful community (Live Here Love Here) and education (Eco-Schools) programmes as well as introducing Climate literacy training. with support of central and local government, businesses, trusts and foundations, I was able to grow the scale of operations ten-fold in order to tackle the growing environmental issues that today threaten the very fabric of our society.Prior to this, I worked as a Research Fellow at The Queen's University of Belfast completing forestry and agricultural research projects.Specialties: Environmental Education.
