• Forty five years experience in the inspection, design and project management of building and civil engineering projects, with personal responsibility for technical and financial control of projects in design offices in the UK and overseas• Opened a new BSW consultancy office in Exeter in October 1996 in partnership with Sarah Buck. The company worked on a wide range of civil and structural engineering projects throughout the UK. Services included structural inspections, feasibility studies, detailed design, project management, site supervision, Principal Designer and expert witness• Retired as a director of BSW in June 2017, and then worked in a self-employed capacity as a Senior Consultant to BSW, providing technical support and experience to the civil and structural engineering project teams• Past Chairman of the Devon & Cornwall Region of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Served on the Institution’s Engineering Practice and Public Relations Committees• 11 years’ experience working on renewable energy projects, initially as CDM Co-ordinator and then as both CDM-C (now Principal Designer) and Balance of Plant (BoP) civils designer. Prior to retirement from BSW, director in charge of the civils design team for renewable energy projects throughout the UK, providing design, third party review, and Principal Designer services to wind farm, solar farm and generator installation (STOR) developers and BoP contractors. While at BSW, developed a range of technical in-house spreadsheets to assist in the design & checking of wind turbine foundations, access tracks, crane hardstandings and piling platforms• Formerly director responsible for the provision of advice & training to staff & clients in respect of Health and Safety in the design and construction of multi-disciplinary projects of varying size. 20 years as Hon. Treasurer of the SW Region of the Association for Project Safety

Manager of the Exeter office with responsibility for day-to-day operations of a team of around 20 staff dealing with structural and building, water and drainage projects. Project Director responsible for the project management, financial and technical control of all structural projects in the Exeter office. Projects range from minor alteration and remedial works, structural inspections, housing estate developments and site investigations, through to multi-million pound commercial and public projects.
