Sigma Treasury is the latest member of the Sigma Broking family offering specialist deliverable foreign exchange brokerage bringing together innovative IBAN, currency, credit and risk management solutions. Responsible for the Operational, Finance and Compliance functions within the firm, Ian has been responsible for three successful regulatory applications across three jurisdictions (UK, Europe and the United Arab Emirates). Ian wrote all of the firms polices & procedures for the aforementioned jurisdictions and delivered all operational systems and associated API integrations with multiple banking, customer lifecycle and compliance partners.

Following the acquisition of City Forex by Equals in 2018 I was responsible for the settlement, reconciliation and compliance functions of the business. I built and managed a team of 18 and was directly responsible for transactions in excess of £2.36 Billion per annum. In addition to this role I fulfilled the role of deputy MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer). I am an expert in operational processes and controls, the banking system within which the industry operates within and a driver of positive change to ensure processes and systemic controls remain current and scalable. I am also experienced in the operational integration of new banking partners and businesses acquired through acquisition.

Retail and wholesale banknote business and International payment provider for small and medium sized businesses and private individuals. City Forex become one of the leading suppliers of currency services in the City of London servicing many of the large financial institutions, insurers, brokers and lawyers located there. Played a key role in growing the business from 5 employees to 55 when the business was sold. Initially recruited by City Forex in the role of Senior Dealer and having successfully undertaken almost every role within the company achieved the position of Operations Director in Mid 2015. Managed and responsible for the payments element of the business which had a turnover in excess of £500M per annum prior to its sale, £180M of which was its banknote business. Jointly responsible for the companies compliance in capacity of deputy MLRO.Designed and delivered a retail expansion from 2 locations to 54 nationwide with no rental overheads, a first in the Industry and generating significant new revenues for the business.Responsibility for foreign exchange rate setting and client hedging. Managed the provision of outstanding customer service to more than 50k client enquiries per annum.

Client relationship management for a mixed portfolio in excess of 100 clients and jointly responsible for a multi-million Pound income target. Role included a wide range of transactional banking enquiries, new business development and working closely with other departments and business partners while mitigating client risk to the bank.

Gained a strong understanding of the corporate banking environment. Role included inbound customer services with a full range of transactional banking functions associated with such a role, Corporate account opening, Domestic and International payments, arranging securities against client liability and handling treasury services.

Recruited directly into challenging customer facing role becoming at the time the youngest Personal Banker within the ‘City of London’ group of branches. Largely a sales role I was responsible for a wide range of transactional banking services, account opening and sale of a variety of banking products ranging from savings and investments to personal loans, Insurance services and mortgages.
