Responsible for training and assisting a user base of ~250 active researchers as well as a number of external clients (standard operating procedures and safety training/protocols). Additional responsibilities include creating short and long term goals and vision for facility, maintaining inventory, directing marketing efforts, generating and presenting reports (analytical and facility review), reporting to center directors and VPs, and ensuring safety of facility-related operations. Provide consulting for analysis process development (many different fields). Conduct training and workshops on a variety of analytical techniques. Repair and maintain many instruments (mcf.nd.edu for instrument list).Direct a research group designing semiconductor-graphene-metal composites for solar energy conversion (PV and solar fuels) and sensing architectures. Past projects include developing a textile-based, highly sensitive detection scheme for mitigating the threat that explosives and nerve agents pose to our nation's service men and women, creation of solar paint materials that would transfer otherwise normal surfaces into energy generating photovoltaic devices, and a number of catalytic projects in the fields of solar fuels and fuel cells.Assist in teaching of Environmental Chemistry course (6 years). Design of student debate in which students must consider and present multiple perspectives/motivations (government, industrial, local stakeholders, etc...) as well as weigh various studies (energy analysis, economic impact, system life cycle analysis, ecological impact, etc...) before coming to an informed decision on a real world topic.Google Scholar link: http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=EkY6T8kAAAAJ
