It focused on genomic differentiation, selective signatures, and sexual dimorphisms between gyrfalcons and saker falcons. Specifically, I focused on W sex chromosome divergence in falcons to study coding and non-coding regions to observe possible functional impacts on the evolution and speciation in falcons, with implications such as guiding conservation efforts. Its successful progress enabled the project to be implemented as part of the BIN3890 (Research methods in bioinformatics and big data) unit curriculum in August 2021.My tasks and responsibilities include:➼ Successfully utilized bioinformatics software such as Geneious Prime and gProfiler to conduct data analyses, identify candidate genes, and annotate SNPs.➼ Conducted data mining using genomic/protein databases (eg. ENSEMBL, UniProt, MGI, GTE) and literature reviews.
