Ian is the nephew of the late H.J.Morgan, Vice-President of the BARC & owner of Londons' prestigious Steering Wheel Club 1946-1979, John was a Life Hon. Member of The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC), Director & Hon. Treasurer of The Order of The Road, 1979-1990, Vice-President & Life Hon. Member of The Guild of Motoring Writers, Life Hon. Member of The Brooklands Society, & Hon. Secretary of The British Motor Racing Circuit Owners Association 1962-1979. He was Race Organiser & Clerk of The Course at Goodwood for all the major Bank Holiday events, Nine Hours Race & RAC Tourist Trophy Race, Race Organiser & Clerk of The Course for BARC events at Crystal Palace, and Race Organiser/Clerk of The Course at Aintree Motor Racing Circuit for all five British Grand Prix held there between 1955 & 1962. Ian is also the nephew of the late Robert (Gordon) Sutherland, owner of Aston Martin Limited prior to David Brown.Inevitably Ian developed a passionate interest in Motorsport, but decided to forge a career with the Police, progressing from patrol work, accident & crime investigation, police training, project work on behalf of the Home Office, and surveillance photography. Retired since 1998, Ian now follows his personal interests of photography and motor sport. Recently Ian resurrected The Order of The Road motoring organisation run by his uncle, the intention being to retain the name within the family. The Company will remain dormant for the immediate future, but that future is open to whatever possibilities present themselves.
