During my career I've worked on diverse projects as varied as artificial genetics, game tool development, database architecture, web page and front end design, with an emphasis on software development. I am currently involved in machine learning with a specialisation in reinforcement learning; I'm also avidly interested in advanced energy generation, virtual currencies, and additive manufacturing. Using the TD learning and PPO, with dense networks for the policy and value functions it's possible for my auto pilot to learn optimised thrust and control surface orientation in hover manoeuvres without supervision. In research and by careful application of rewards the vehicle was able to learn to hover quickly, and even more so when the the replay memory was seeded with samples taken from successful human pilot missions. Completed proof of concept, with working simulation, and auto-pilot system demonstration. -

Developer And Bitcoin Entrepreneur.Self Employed Oct 2010 - Apr 2017As a bitcoin miner and entrepreneur I've built and managed several GPU rigs, sourced and managed an ASIC mining rig, and invested in a number of companies in the bitcoin ecosystem. Working as a Bitcoin activist I traveled to New York, Philadelphia, the UK, and around New Hampshire to promote Bitcoin and the protocol's adoption while becoming an admin of the longest running bitcoin meetup in the world. In Lisp I developed a bitcoin price ticker sourcing data from the MtGox api. Worked on prototype social alert system using a distributed data protocol.

Software EngineerSelf Employed Dec 2003 - Apr 2010As a self employed engineer I designed and developed a VTOL four engine vehicle using X-Plane flight simulation and Airplane design toolkit, and Fuzzy Tech fuzzy logic design software. As a precursor to modern quadcopter controllers my software stabilized and controlled the vehicle up to three hundred miles per hour, from takeoff to landing, and included a user control component incorporating several joysticks. The second phase of this project included an Arduino electric ducted fan speed control package, and an accelerometer leveling control. During this period I also developed an X-Plane network communication component using Lisp, writing to UDP, a fuzzy logic compiler, a neural net compiler, and gained experience towards a private helicopter pilot licence at CR Helicopter in Nashua, NH. As a contractor during this period I helped develop software for a hardware flight simulation platform.
