Ian Martin is highly experienced in the investment management, superannuation, investment banking and financial services sectors, in Australia, APAC and globally.He is former Chair of QIC Limited; UniSuper; Argo Investments and the Wayside Chapel.Ian was Chair of QIC from April 2019 until March 2024; Chair of UniSuper from July 2017 until December 2022 (and an independent Director since 2014); Chair of The Wayside Chapel Foundation from 2005 until 30 November 2020; Chair of Argo Investments Limited (ASX:ARG) from February 2012 until June 2018 (and a Director from 2004); and Chair of Argo Global Listed Infrastructure Limited from June 2015 until June 2018.He was also Vice Chair, Asia Pacific of Berkshire Capital (now Berkshire Global Advisors) from October 2010 to December 2018.He is a former CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the BT Financial Group (formerly BT Funds Management Ltd) and Head of Global Investment Management and member of the Management Committee of Bankers Trust New York Corporation. Ian was also the Inaugural Chair of what is now the Australian Financial Services Council; and aPanel Member of the Superannuation System Review (The Cooper Review), a committee established by the Australian Federal Government to review and improve Australia’s superannuation system. Early in his career Ian held various positions with the Australian Treasury, Canberra, and spent two years at Citibank as its Australian Chief Economist. He holds an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide, an Advanced Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has completed advanced short courses in investment management at London Business School and AIMR/Princeton University.Ian was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2014 Australia Day Honours list.
