I started work at Microlink 15 years ago now as a Junior DSA Support technician providing best in class technical support to our disabled student client base of over 50'000 customers. Bringing my own experience of the Disabled Student Allowance system as a customer and my problem solving and technical skill to help improve the lives and enable the career growth of our customers. From this platform and with the aid of some fantastically passionate and talented colleagues I was able to help build the technical expertise of our organisation, leveraging open source backup systems to enable safe recoveries of client machines, writing automation software to install software packages to order and ultimately taking the customer service experience gained from our DSA customers into support of our new venture supporting disabled people not just in education but throughout their working lives as well thanks to the Workplace Adjustment scheme. With this move we were able to bring our knowledge and understanding of Assistive Technology to the Corporate world. Enabling thousands more people to continue their careers and be more productive and happier in the workplace.While I still manage and look after our Corporate Support functions, my primary role now involves looking after our Internal IT systems. interpreting ever increasing corporate client security requirements and how to implement them within an SME budget and work-space. To this end I manage our Exchange infrastructure, assist with security reviews and am currently implementing a Cisco Meraki network refit at our primary business site.
