My role at Get Warrington Talking is to ensure that through local events, networking, campaigns, and conversations I create a culture of knowledge and understanding around mental health, mental illness, and suicide prevention for the people of Warrington. I network and build connections across Public, Private and Third Sector Organisations that leaves them feeling comfortable talking about matters relating to suicide and its prevention. I also enable those same organisations and wider members… Show more My role at Get Warrington Talking is to ensure that through local events, networking, campaigns, and conversations I create a culture of knowledge and understanding around mental health, mental illness, and suicide prevention for the people of Warrington. I network and build connections across Public, Private and Third Sector Organisations that leaves them feeling comfortable talking about matters relating to suicide and its prevention. I also enable those same organisations and wider members of the community the opportunity to explore issues relating to mental health and mental illness. I break down stigma by creating opportunities for individuals with lived experiences of overcoming mental health challenges or coping with mental illness to share their stories. The power of storytelling can truly help save lives in the first instance but then it can also help people thrive. Often, I used innovative ways of engaging with people and look to use big and small events to create a "noise” around mental health/suicide prevention which brings the community together. Show less
