I hold responsibility for the management of the European arm of this global business providing specialist parts for commercial and pleasure boats. I oversee the provision of ongoing technical support for 150 registered distributors throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, who fit and refit our equipment within the marine industry. Managing a dispersed team, across the UK and Europe, I hold accountability for the day to day business management and for the development of new products for use in the marine industry. I work in close liaison with Tides Marine’s parent company based in the United States. During this tenure, I have consistently increased the sales achievements in a challenging economic climate. I have progressed company growth significantly, developing innovative strands including the delivery of commercial lighting projects and the implementation of new product lines. I have consistently driven the identification of new ideas and products to engage current clients and attract new clients.

I rose consistently through the ranks, supporting front line policing. I delivered, and subsequently led, a visible and reassuring presence on the streets, dealing with community issues, transport, security or antisocial behaviour and ceremonial events. I ended my service with the overall responsibility for the wellbeing and development of more than 200 special constables in the area.

I led a team of over 18 staff and managed a turnover of £56m per annum within this international organisation. I dove all activity around the sale and subsequent post-sale support, of Yanmar and Mercury engines for the marine industry.I ensured the timely and effective supply chain delivery of parts across the globe. This often required exceptional diplomacy and understanding of a variance in priorities across multi-cultural and multi-language barriers. During this time, I also introduced the Quick Silver range of boats into EP Barrus portfolio; securing in the region of £1.5m in sales in the first year alone.

I held responsibility for and sales, installation and technical management of stern gear equipment; a highly specialised product manufactured by Tides Marine in their US facility. I held overall control of accounts in the region of £2.5m, supervising the day to day activity of a significant sales team and their client accounts. This role required extensive global travel to major shipyards, working in productive liaison with key partners to develop technical drawings and installations and to manage procurement strategies and best value for money delivery.

Offering a wide portfolio of products, I ensured the smooth supply of products to the worldwide marine market and delivered excellent after sales servicing of engines and propulsion units. I held overview of over 50 major accounts and developed robust relationships across partner dealership networks and original equipment manufacturers. I ensured price setting resilience and the consistent provision of exceptionally high standards of service. Utilising my significant expertise, I provided technical knowledge to support installation development and carried out a range of installation checks and testing in order to secure the acquisition of all legally required certifications.

Leading a specialist team, I managed the performance and service delivery of all engineering facilities. This included the organisation of business activity including parts ordering, allocation of work whilst delivering complex diagnostic services.

I worked my way through a wide range of engineering roles developing a strong foundation of enquiry, observation and personal interaction.
