For Meshpower I coordinated closely with a team in Rwanda to improve internal systems and develop new products for our customers. I investigated failures in powerline communication which limited distribution network size to 15 customers per line and explored potential solutions. Finding the cheapest and most versatile solution was to integrate a wireless communication media, I designed a wireless network interface that would integrate seamlessly into the existing system, along with a wireless power meter to install on customer premises. After building and testing the wireless meter, I travelled to Rwanda where I installed them in one of our villages. Once installed, I monitored and evaluated the improvements over powerline communication.

As an intern with the CSU Energy Institute I worked extensively with radio communication modules and protocols to design and implement a network of solar irradiance sensors. With data collected from this network, I derived a new method of tracking cloud motion and presented my findings to the 2018 American Solar Energy Society national conference. In tandem, I developed an application to interface with 6 IR cameras to image methane leaks and study gas flow patterns.
