Many of which have long production lead times and supply critical parts such as engines, chassis, electronics, transmissions and axles for three production lines and two business units.My core responsibilities are to ensure that materials are supplied to the business in a timely manner, in such a way that production in not affected to minimise down time whilst ensuring stock is kept to a minimum. I look to reduce associated storage, handling, transport and procurement costs; whilst holding appropriate stock levels to ensure no undue health and safety issues whilst maximising production efficiencies. This is done in line with a flexible build program across three production lines, a wide verity of individual products and a vast catalogue of component options. In addition to my core duties noted above, I also use my operational experience and knowledge to continually improve the materials department for Earthmovers and Landpower; as well as working with a third party stakeholder who operate JCB World Logistics Centre as well as the transport network which supports operations across the group. This work has focused on returnable packaging and stillage’s; particularly ensuring that the packaging in place meet the operational requirements of the business and reduces operational costs. I have also devised and implemented critical internal communication and escalation platforms and processes to ensure that problems can be solved quickly and effectively with measures put in place to ensure proactive management moving forwards. In addition to my work with the wider materials team on site, I have also worked at JCB World Logistics Centre with the team to identify improvements in materials handling and storage and helped guide the implementation of relevant safeguards to improve operational processes via regular communication and meetings and established customer service portal.
